Greatest Soccer Goals Ever On YouTube

Alessandro del Piero - Juve-Fiorentina 1993/94 Serie A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNVxpMUUnB8

Cheeky flick-on, perfect technique - pretty much sums up
Del Piero when at his best - perfect touch, perfect timing.
He can't dribble past an injured Serie C defender, but his
touch, his vision are beyond stellar.

Diego Armando Maradona - England-Italy World Cup 1986 Quarterfinal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWNnK99mcrw

It was incredible seeing this as it happened in 1986
For at least ten minutes after the stunning goal. Grown men
were crying and hugging and kissing one another chanting
'El Pibe de Oro!' 'Diego Armando Maradona!' 'El Pibe!'
'Ar-gen-tina, Ar-gen-tina!'

Marco Van Basten - Holland-Ukraine 1988 European Championship Final
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBNDlQvPYxw

The biggest volley in the biggest game - period. A
stunning talent that had his career tragically hampered
and cut short by injury.

Roberto Mancini - Lazio-Parma 1998-99 Serie A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlgGtJESwkc

Wow. The best volley for technique ever seen. The power
volley goes to Djorkaeff, the Big Game volley to Van
Basten, but sheer, sweet technique (and cheek) nothing
tops this.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pele) Sweden-Brasil World Cup
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1tKmCgF0sE

Pele's grace - flip the ball over the head of the defender
and beat the keeper. Btw, he was 17 at the time and this
was the World Cup Final against Sweden in Sweden.

Gianfranco Zola - Chelsea-Norwich City Premiership 2002
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCfxeNiFplM&NR=1

Brilliant - simply brilliant. Full speed towards the ball,
hit with the back heel, perfectly placed near post. Like
Del Piero's goal, this goal symbolized a player and his
technique. Zola's pace, perfect balance and ball control
are shown in their wondrous entirety here.

Dejan Savicevic - Milan-Barcelona European Cup Final 1993
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y766ypjaVNQ&NR=1

Chipping the keeper on the dead run - from twenty
meters no less - what a brilliant rascal Dejan was! :)

Ronaldo - Compostela - Barcelona La Liga 1997
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC57WLJYmUE

A sort of 'junior' Maradona/Messi run - shows the
sheer power and speed blended with skill that was
Ronaldo at his height. 'Robocop' he was called by
Alessandro Nesta, and for good reason! He shook
off several holds and trips like a bull swats away
flies.

Youri Djorkaeff - Inter-Roma Serie A 1996
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YT1wxeJkzKE

For sheer acrobatics and perfection of the shot -
the best volley ever seen. Not as much dynamics as
Messi or Maradona, but better than Van Basten's
volley and more power than Mancini's masterpiece.
Of course Van Basten's volley came in a Euro final
so that comes into the occasion - the importance
of the score.

Lionel Messi - Barcelona-Getafe Copa del Rey 2007
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI_IljtGy9o

Marvelous goal - Messi was under more pressure
throughout than Maradona was in his very similar
run against England, but Maradona's pirouette at
the beginning and his sliding shot to beat the tackle
and the charge of the keeper were superior. Still,
I think Messi's was the better of the two, but it
wasn't a World Cup Quarterfinal against a country
that you were actually fighting a war against!
